I first came across SGT Thunderhoof on their spilt with Howling Giant. The quality of their track compelled me to search for more. And were better to start than the beginning. There are only 5 songs on this album, but, as you’ll discover when you start listening, the SGT love his long tunes that eb & flow with walls of sound punctuated with meandering interludes. This album just gets better the further you get through it. The other reviews are right. Not their best but still really good. Harry Harrison

SGT Thunderhoof has become one of my favourite bands…..ever. And if I was held at gun point and asked which was my favourite albums from them, it would be this one, Ride of the Hoof. I listen to ST a lot but my go-to album is this one. If I’m not careful, I don’t give the other ST albums a fair go and that would just be depriving me of the greatness of all their other awesome tunes. With only a limited number of hours in the day, this posses quiet a conundrum. Harry Harrison
A hard rock epic for the ages from the Richmond outfit, anchored in prog-inflected riffs, occult themes, strong vocal performances. Bandcamp New & Notable May 12, 2021
A terrifically woozy slab of psychedelic stoner rock, where big riffs grind against saxophones, omnichords, and more. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 17, 2018
